A shortage of printed circuit boards is adding fresh pressure to the electronics industry, with manufacturers facing higher prices and tighter availability. The squeeze is being linked to two major forces at once: strong demand from the fast-growing AI hardware market and disruption tied to the West Asia crisis.
Printed circuit boards, or PCBs, are the foundation on which electronic components are mounted, making them essential across a wide range of products. When supply tightens, the impact can spread quickly through the production chain because these boards sit at the core of many devices and systems.
According to the report, the current crunch is being driven by rising material costs, shipping route disruptions and the diversion of components toward high-end AI infrastructure such as servers. That combination is limiting supply for other electronics segments and raising procurement costs for manufacturers.
The result is a broader price increase across parts of the electronics industry as companies absorb or pass on higher PCB costs. With logistics pressures and AI-led demand still shaping the market, printed circuit board supply has become another key stress point for electronics makers.
