Vishal Mega Mart has been ordered to pay Rs 2.8 lakh after a consumer court found fault with the retailer for selling an expired packet of Maggi Atta Instant Noodles. The case stems from a grocery purchase that reportedly led to severe food poisoning and hospitalization for the customer.
According to the report, the matter was heard by a consumer commission in Andhra Pradesh, which took a strong view of the sale of expired food. The ruling highlights how retailers can be held responsible when products on their shelves are no longer fit for consumption and end up harming buyers.
