U.S. gasoline prices could reach a calendar-year record later this week, according to GasBuddy. The company said the national average may climb to its highest level ever recorded for this point in the year.
Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, issued the warning as the organization assessed the latest movements in fuel prices. His forecast indicates that drivers could face a notable rise in average costs before the week ends.
The potential record comes even as oil prices have pulled back, GasBuddy said in a blog post published Monday. Regional results have been mixed, suggesting that gasoline price trends are not moving uniformly across the country.
