The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 13 containers carrying Pakistan-origin dry dates at Kandla port. The consignment weighed 364 tonnes and was valued at about Rs 3 crore.

According to the available details, the dates were allegedly declared as imports from the United Arab Emirates. Investigators suspect the shipment was routed through Dubai while its Pakistani origin was not accurately disclosed.

The seizure highlights alleged misdeclaration in an imported food consignment at one of India’s major ports. The DRI’s action involves the containers and the declared origin of the dry dates.
