Indian benchmark indices closed higher on August 5 after the Reserve Bank of India kept its repo rate unchanged. The Sensex gained 152 points, while the Nifty 50 finished above the 24,620 mark.
Market sentiment was supported by the RBI’s improved growth outlook for financial year 2027 and its lower inflation projections. Gains in auto, realty and metal stocks helped offset weakness in other parts of the market.
The day’s corporate updates included Godrej Agrovet, which reported standalone first-quarter profit after tax of Rs 183.6 crore. Its consolidated PAT stood at Rs 128.3 crore, according to the market updates.
