India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has proposed new quality of service guidelines for 5G network slicing, focusing on preventing service deterioration for subscribers. The proposal was unveiled in New Delhi as telecom operators prepare to use slicing to manage different service requirements on 5G networks.
Network slicing allows operators to create separate virtual network segments and dynamically allocate resources. Trai’s proposed framework is intended to ensure that this flexibility does not compromise the quality experienced by customers using different services.
The guidelines also permit telecom operators to adopt distinct pricing for 4G and 5G offerings. The proposal sets out a regulatory approach for using network slices while maintaining service quality across the telecom network.
