Routers made by Chinese company Zbtlink were reportedly shipped with a built-in backdoor, according to a new report from cybersecurity firm VulnCheck. The discovery raises concerns about unauthorized access to devices using the affected equipment.
VulnCheck examined 20 Zbtlink router models as part of its investigation. Researchers said the implant could give servers located in China full control over the routers, potentially allowing remote management of the devices.
The findings focus on the presence of the backdoor in the routers rather than a flaw discovered after shipment. The available report details indicate that the access mechanism was identified across the models examined by VulnCheck.
