Tijuana will represent Mexico at the Little League World Series in Williamsport next month after winning the country’s national tournament. It is the second time this decade that a team from the border city has earned the opportunity.

The Tijuana squad secured the Mexican championship last month with an 8-2 victory over Matamoros, a historic favorite in the competition. The decisive win sent the city’s young players back to the international stage.

With the national title secured, Tijuana now heads to Williamsport as Mexico’s representative in the Little League World Series. The appearance will place the border city’s team among the tournament’s youth baseball contenders.
