Mitsubishi Motors is planning to revive the Pajero name with a midsize SUV for the Japanese market by fiscal year 2028, according to a report by Nikkei Asia. A compact version is expected to follow the midsize model.

The proposed launch is part of Mitsubishi’s medium- to long-term business plan, which the automaker outlined in May. The strategy points to a broader expansion of the Pajero range rather than the introduction of a single replacement model.

The midsize vehicle is expected to lead the renewed Pajero rollout in Japan, while the compact variant would extend the nameplate into a smaller SUV segment. Mitsubishi has not provided further details in the information available.
