Ukraine is developing the VORON ground robot as a multi-purpose frontline system designed to counter incoming first-person-view (FPV) drones. Its unusual defensive feature is a set of net launchers that fire into the air to disrupt or capture attacking drones.

The system is intended to provide protection against a major battlefield threat while supporting other operations. Alongside drone interception, VORON can be used for logistics duties, reconnaissance and the evacuation of personnel or equipment.

Its ground-based design gives Ukrainian forces a platform that can carry out several missions rather than serving only as a dedicated counter-drone device. The net-launching mechanism is aimed at stopping FPV attacks without relying solely on conventional weapons.

VORON reflects the growing role of compact robotic systems in frontline operations, where unmanned vehicles are being adapted for defense, transport and recovery tasks.
