Despite the recent recovery, a large amount is still outstanding. According to the available data, ₹969.56 crore in property tax dues remains unpaid, linked to 7.13 lakh property owners.
The numbers highlight both the scale of the drive and the challenge still facing the Chennai civic administration. Property tax is a key source of municipal revenue, and stronger collection can support city services and local infrastructure spending.
With nearly ₹1,000 crore yet to be recovered, the focus is likely to remain on arrears collection in the coming period. The latest drive shows some movement, but the unpaid total indicates that a substantial recovery effort is still underway.
