A exporters’ association has asked the government to extend Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products, or RoDTEP, benefits to businesses operating under the Duty-Free Import Authorisation scheme. The demand follows recent recovery notices sent to DFIA exporters, asking them to return benefits they had already claimed.
The All India Importers and Exporters Association has raised concern over what it described as unequal treatment of MSME exporters working under the DFIA route. The issue has added to uncertainty for smaller exporters, who rely on policy consistency when pricing shipments and planning working capital.
At the center of the dispute is whether DFIA exporters should continue to receive RoDTEP support. Industry representatives appear to be seeking either a policy extension or clear recognition that these exporters should not face retrospective recovery of benefits that were previously availed.
The matter is likely to be closely watched by export-oriented businesses, especially MSMEs, as any change in duty remission support can affect competitiveness and margins. For now, the industry is pressing for clarity and a uniform approach so DFIA exporters are not placed at a disadvantage.
