Chandigarh University has expanded its value-added learning portfolio to more than 270 courses across emerging fields, in a move aimed at improving multidisciplinary education and boosting student employability. The university said the programs are designed to complement regular degree studies with practical, industry-relevant skills.
According to the announcement, students have completed 7.5 lakh certifications through these courses. That figure points to large-scale participation in short-format learning modules that sit alongside mainstream academic programs and help students build additional capabilities before graduation.
The initiative comes as universities face growing pressure to align teaching with rapid technological change and shifting hiring needs. By adding courses in new and developing areas, institutions are increasingly trying to bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations.
Chandigarh University said the added training has contributed to stronger campus placement outcomes, with employability improving by about 30%. The broader strategy highlights how higher education providers are using flexible, skills-based learning to prepare students for a more competitive and evolving job market.
