China National Petroleum Corporation has started operations at the Tarim 1.2 MTA Phase II Ethylene Project and related demonstration facilities, marking a major step in the country’s petrochemical sector. The company is presenting the development as China’s first full-chain green, low-carbon ethylene project.
According to the announcement, the project combines ethylene production with supporting facilities designed to advance greener and lower-carbon operations across the value chain. The launch highlights CNPC’s push to modernize large-scale chemical manufacturing while aligning new capacity with environmental goals.
Ethylene is a key building block for a wide range of industrial and consumer products, making new production projects closely watched by the market. A full-chain low-carbon model suggests that sustainability measures are being integrated not only into core processing, but also into related infrastructure and supporting systems.
