Lundbeck has announced that the last participant has been randomized in DEEp OCEAN, its large Phase III clinical trial studying bexicaserin in people with developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, or DEEs. The update marks an important operational milestone for the late-stage program.
According to the company, DEEp OCEAN is a global study evaluating the investigational medicine for seizures associated with DEEs. These conditions are a varied group of childhood-onset epilepsies, and the trial is designed to assess whether bexicaserin can help address seizure burden in this patient population.
Lundbeck described the study as the broadest pivotal trial to date in this area, with enrollment spanning a wide range of patients affected by DEEs. Reaching the point where the final patient is randomized typically means a trial has completed enrollment and can move forward toward follow-up and data collection.
