Dubai-based developer Arada has unveiled the opening stage of a major east London regeneration scheme valued at £2.5 billion. The first element of the project is a proposed 1,500-home development called Thameside West in the Royal Docks, an area long associated with large-scale redevelopment ambitions.

The plan forms part of a much bigger vision for a new town-style neighborhood that would eventually deliver around 5,000 homes. Based on the details released so far, Arada is positioning the project as a significant residential expansion in a part of London that has been the focus of regeneration efforts for years.

The proposal also highlights the growing role of international developers in London's housing market. Arada, a company founded by Middle Eastern royalty, is now seeking to establish a major presence in the capital through this large residential-led scheme in the city's east.

If it progresses, Thameside West would mark the first visible phase of a wider transformation of the Royal Docks site. The project adds to the pipeline of new housing planned for east London, where demand for homes and interest in long-term redevelopment remain high.
