ADNOC has approved a final investment decision worth $6.2 billion to move ahead with development of the Umm Shaif Gas Cap, an offshore gas field in Abu Dhabi. The project marks another major energy investment by the UAE company as it works with international partners on large-scale upstream developments.

The development will be carried out alongside TotalEnergies, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation. Their involvement highlights the continued role of global energy groups in Abu Dhabi’s offshore sector and underlines the scale and strategic importance of the Umm Shaif project.

Based on the announcement, the field is expected to become a significant part of ADNOC’s offshore gas portfolio once fully developed. The investment decision also signals confidence in long-term gas demand and in the value of expanding production capacity through established partnerships.

For ADNOC, the Umm Shaif Gas Cap approval adds to broader efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s energy infrastructure and resource base. The $6.2 billion commitment places the project among the notable offshore gas developments in the region and keeps attention on the emirate’s role in global energy markets.
