Andhra Pradesh and the United Arab Emirates are exploring a new food cluster in the state as part of a broader push to expand horticulture exports. The discussion focused on building an export-oriented value chain for produce such as mangoes, bananas, cocoa and other horticultural crops.
The proposal came up during talks between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri. Their meeting centered on ways to strengthen agricultural trade links and improve access to overseas markets for farm produce from the state.
A food cluster typically supports better integration across production, processing and export activities. In this case, the plan is aimed at helping Andhra Pradesh move more horticultural goods into global markets through a more organized supply chain.
The discussions underline growing interest in closer India-UAE cooperation in agriculture and food trade. For Andhra Pradesh, the proposed food cluster could become an important step in raising the value of its horticulture sector and widening export opportunities for key crops.
