Merlinhawk Aerospace has entered into a partnership with Boeing India Defence to strengthen support services linked to the Indian Navy, in a move aimed at improving operational readiness. The agreement focuses on providing in-country sustainment support, an area that is becoming increasingly important as defence operators seek faster turnaround times and stronger local capability.
A key part of the arrangement is Merlinhawk’s use of its L3Harris WESCAM Authorized Service Centre in Bengaluru. The facility will handle maintenance, repair and related support for advanced electro-optical and infrared, or EO/IR, systems that are used in naval operations and surveillance missions.
By shifting more of this work to India, the partnership is expected to reduce dependence on overseas servicing and help keep critical systems available for longer periods. Localized maintenance support can also improve logistics efficiency and make it easier to address technical issues closer to where the equipment is deployed.
The deal highlights a broader trend in India’s aerospace and defence sector, where domestic companies are taking on larger sustainment roles alongside global manufacturers. For Boeing and Merlinhawk, the collaboration aligns with the push to build stronger local support ecosystems for military platforms and mission systems operating in the country.
