CVS is broadening its pharmacy business with a new option aimed at pet owners. The company said customers can now fill select prescriptions for dogs and cats through CVS Pharmacy, extending its reach beyond traditional human medications.
According to the announcement, the service will be available at roughly 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations across the country. That large store footprint could give pet owners another convenient place to pick up common medications for their animals while using a familiar retail pharmacy network.
CVS is also tying the pet offering to services many customers already use for their own prescriptions. The company said delivery, automatic refills and other pharmacy tools will be available, a move that may make ongoing treatment easier for owners managing regular medications for dogs or cats.
The rollout signals a broader push into pet health care as retailers look for new areas of growth. By adding pet prescriptions to its pharmacy operations, CVS is positioning itself to serve households that want more convenience in managing care for both people and pets.
