GE Aerospace and Magellan Aerospace have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding focused on F414 sustainment, marking a new step in their defense aerospace collaboration. The companies said the agreement is aimed at developing maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Canada for the F414-GE-39E engine.
The announcement was made at the Farnborough Air Show, where aerospace and defense companies often unveil partnerships tied to long-term support programs. By targeting Canadian MRO capacity, the deal points to a localized approach for servicing the F414 platform rather than relying solely on existing support networks elsewhere.
For the companies, sustainment is a key part of the engine business because it covers the ongoing work needed to keep equipment operational over time. In this case, the proposed partnership centers on building repair and overhaul capability around the F414-GE-39E, an engine variant used in defense applications.
While the memorandum does not by itself create a final operating program, it signals a shared intent to expand service infrastructure in Canada. The move also highlights continued interest in strengthening aerospace industrial support for advanced engines through partnerships between major manufacturers and regional suppliers.
