Global commercial insurance rates continued to ease in the second quarter of 2026, extending a prolonged softening trend in the market. According to Marsh’s latest Global Insurance Market Index, average rates declined 6% worldwide in Q2, following a 5% drop in the first quarter.

The latest reading marks the eighth consecutive quarter of falling global commercial insurance pricing. That suggests competitive conditions have remained in place across the market, giving buyers continued relief after earlier periods of higher premiums.

Property insurance stood out in the latest report, with rates falling 12% during the quarter. Marsh’s data indicates property pricing saw the sharpest decline among the areas highlighted, while other major commercial lines appeared to show less dramatic or more mixed changes.

The Q2 figures point to an ongoing shift in the commercial insurance environment as insurers and corporate buyers move through another quarter of lower average pricing. With the second straight quarterly decline of at least 5% in 2026, the latest index underscores how the global market has kept trending downward through the first half of the year.
