Air India is set to begin hub-and-spoke flights linking Amritsar with Delhi, a move aimed at improving access to international services for travelers from the Punjab city. Under this model, passengers can connect through Delhi more easily for onward overseas journeys.
The airline’s plan is expected to make the travel experience smoother, particularly for international flyers who need customs and immigration clearance. By routing passengers through a major hub, the carrier is looking to simplify airport procedures and strengthen connections between regional points and long-haul networks.
The new Amritsar-Delhi link also supports wider efforts to improve connectivity for smaller cities. Instead of relying only on direct international services, travelers can use a domestic spoke route to reach a central hub with broader global flight options.
The scheme has already been introduced in Varanasi, and Amritsar appears to be among the next cities to be added. The expansion signals Air India’s continued focus on building a more connected network that feeds international traffic through key gateway airports such as Delhi.
