India’s primary market appears to be regaining momentum, even though broader uncertainty continues to weigh on investor sentiment. Early optimism has been supported by a major Rs 9,800 crore fundraise by SBI Funds Management and growing activity in the initial public offering space.
A key driver behind the recent pickup is the rush of mid-sized companies preparing to launch IPOs before the end of September. Market participants are closely watching the regulatory window after SEBI said in April that IPO observation letters due to expire between April 1 and September 30 would remain valid until the end of September.
That extension has given issuers more time to tap the market, helping revive deal activity at a time when conditions have remained uneven. The latest pipeline suggests companies are trying to use the available window while investor appetite is showing selective improvement.
Even so, the recovery is still at an early stage. The primary market may be seeing renewed interest, but future listings will likely depend on how investors respond to ongoing market volatility, valuation expectations and the broader economic backdrop.
