Ford and Geely have agreed to create a manufacturing joint venture focused on electric vehicles at Ford’s plant in Valencia, Spain. Under the plan, Ford will hold a 66% stake in the new company, while Geely will own the remaining 34%.

The partnership is aimed at expanding EV production in Europe through a shared manufacturing setup. The companies said the venture is still subject to regulatory approvals, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2027.

Production is set to ramp up after that, with four vehicle models planned from 2028. Those models are expected to include electric vehicles for both the Ford and Geely brands, showing that the Valencia site will play a role in each company’s EV strategy.

The deal highlights how major automakers are increasingly using joint ventures to spread costs and speed up electric vehicle development. For Ford and Geely, the Valencia agreement creates a new route to build EVs at scale in Spain while combining manufacturing resources in a fast-growing segment.
