Mahindra Lifespace Developers and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation are moving ahead with a new expansion at Origins by Mahindra in Chennai. The companies are developing an additional 95 acres as part of Phase 2B, extending their existing partnership in the industrial and infrastructure space.
The project is being taken forward through Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited, the joint venture linked to the development. The expansion points to continued momentum for Origins by Mahindra, which has been positioned as an industrial ecosystem serving businesses looking for manufacturing and allied infrastructure in the Chennai region.
For Mahindra Lifespace, the move adds to its presence in industrial and integrated infrastructure development, while Sumitomo’s involvement underlines ongoing Japanese interest in India’s industrial growth corridors. Chennai remains a key location because of its strong connectivity, manufacturing base and established role in the country’s industrial network.
The Phase 2B rollout suggests both partners are looking to scale the project in line with demand for organized industrial land and facilities. With the added acreage, Origins by Mahindra is set to deepen its footprint in Chennai’s industrial real estate market under the long-running Mahindra-Sumitomo collaboration.
