According to the division, 57,660 towels were found missing between January and April. The figure underlines the scale of the issue and suggests that losses are not isolated incidents but part of a continuing pattern affecting AC coach services.
Railway authorities have indicated that the theft of linen and other train property affects passenger amenities and adds to replacement costs. The concern is especially significant in AC coaches, where such items are part of the expected travel service.
Officials have also pointed out that taking away railway property can attract penalties under the law. The latest report from Ranchi reflects broader concerns over misuse of train amenities and the challenge of preventing repeated losses.
