Scientists in Costa Rica have reportedly taken artificial intelligence research into the wild by placing a touchscreen device in a forest used by capuchin monkeys. According to the report, 16 capuchins interacted with the system, apparently using it to receive banana rewards.

That could give researchers a closer look at how wild primates respond to screens, problem-solving tasks and reward-based learning when they are not being studied in captivity.
