Residents in a north-west London neighbourhood have objected to plans for a 13-storey Albanian mosque, with planning documents outlining a major redevelopment of an existing site.
The proposal would involve demolishing a converted two-storey pub and replacing it with a tower designed to accommodate potentially thousands of worshippers. The plans have prompted concern in the surrounding leafy area.
Opponents have also pointed to the presence of 15 mosques within a three-mile radius, arguing that the proposed development would add to an already concentrated group of places of worship. The scheme remains the subject of local planning debate.
